"Sitting By The Deer Camp Fire"

The deer camp campfire?

What is it about the night time campfire at deer camp that is so incredibility awesome? Is it the hypnotizing beauty of the flames, or the crackling sound of the fire? Or maybe it’s the big beautiful Texas sky and the fellowship with good friends and fellow hunters.

Even though it is the most primitive and oldest form of entertainment, there is nothing better than a night time campfire. It’s nothing more than just sitting around the night time campfire with fellow hunter and friends. Telling stories and just talking about hunting, along with the occasional interrupting howling coyotes. Even when it is just me and I am all by myself, I have found it to be the most heeling and stress relieving thing in the world.

It’s funny how the most simple and primitive thing can be so incredibility powerful. I find that even when I am just sitting around day dreaming, my mind always goes back to the night time campfire at deer camp. It’s truly amazing to watch how the campfire works with other as well. You see them walking around deer camp with a years worth of work and stress on their face. During the day you see them slowly start to loosen up and get there mind away from their daily grind. However, when the sun goes down and campfire goes up, you can begin to see the amazing change. As the darkness of the night gives away the brightness of the campfire, you can see them start to release there daily stress. Their body posture begins to change and their tired frown transforms into an excited smile as they are drawn to the light of the fire. As they gather around the campfire you can see the flicker of the flames in their eyes.

Their excited child like smile starts to grow on their face as the coyotes began to howl. In the beginning they are quite and are completely mesmerize and entranced by the flames. Then the gaze of the flames gives way to hunting stories, jokes and laughter. Then all of the stress is gone.

I think about all the things I have learned about deer hunting, cooking and calf roping next to the campfire. Listen to stories about hunting you learn what techniques and products work the best and why. I think about all of the successful hunting I have had using the methods and products learned from campfire conversation at deer camp, along with recipes and techniques for preparing and cooking wild game as well. During these conversations, you began to see and hear the passion these men have for hunting and see the excitement build for the next days hunt. Think of all the young boys through out the centuries learning how to hunter, warriors and men next to a night time campfire. If you want to get your son or daughter to get into hunting and fishing, first get them excited about it by getting them next to a night time campfire in deer camp.     ~end~
